Storm Triggers Cancelation of Over 100 Flights at Dutch Airport
(MENAFN) Dutch carrier KLM halted more than 100 flights at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport on Saturday following a nationwide yellow alert for strong wind gusts.
A KLM spokesperson told a news agency, “80 incoming and over 70 outgoing flights were cancelled because of the stormy weather.”
The Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI) issued the yellow warning, forecasting wind gusts reaching up to 90 km/h inland and 100 km/h along the coastline. Authorities have urged the public to exercise caution due to hazardous conditions, including the risk of falling tree branches.
This disruption underscores the impact of extreme weather on travel safety and schedules as the storm system sweeps across the country.
